Going behind enemy lines does enable you to tune into a few things that might not have reached the ears of the other footy fans in Germany, so here goes with the big one:

The 2010 World Cup will be in England No, seriously. There are very real fears that South Africa hasn’t got the infrastructure, to say nothing of the telecoms systems, to cope with the event. The rumour some journos are putting out is that FIFA could be about to do a u-turn and award the World Cup to a European country which has the stadiums and the infrastructure ready to go. They can’t go back to Germany, France had it eight years ago, so England or Spain are serious bets. Remember where you read it first.
