Scots bemoan state of Lithuania pitch

Lithuana_pitchWell, if it aint difficult enough playing in a terrible Scotland side, then check out what they have to play on tonight in Lithuania (pictured left).

The Scottish camp have complained to Uefa about the playing surface (which is more Sunday League than International game) in Kaunas for the Euro 2008 qualifier. The Scot's assistant manager, Tommy Burns told BBC Five Live Sport: "It is not a pitch you would normally associate with a top-level match. It is just a question of the players getting their mind set on it. They need to just go and play the game." He forgot to mention the wetsuit they'll be needing...

Perreira steps down from Brazil post

Parreira

Following Brazil's failure to land the World Cup, Carlos Alberto Perreira has stepped down as manager of the side. A Brazil statement read "The coach says he needs to dedicate time to his family after four years leading the Brazilian national team."

Parreira has led the Brazillians to three seperate World Cups in three seperate stints, as well as coaching the Kuwait side to the finals in '82, UAE in '90 and the Saudi's in '94. Former Real Madrid coach, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, who was in charge of Brazil from 1998 to 2000, and former Sao Paulo and Peru boss Paulo Autuori are the favourites to take over from Parreira. The statement continued: "It was a joint decision and Parreira will no longer have any connection with the Brazilian Football Confederation."

Win £500 for writing about football - cool eh?

Germany_2006 Ok, so there might be a lot of World Cup competitions around, but this is the coolest by far. How would you like to write for Who ate all the Bratwurst? as well as be the first footy blogger in the UK to go mobile?

And guess what we’ll pay you £500 to do it.

We are looking for four bloggers to write for both Bratwurst and our mobile sister blog Germany 2006 which will be available via the fantastic Mobizines. We want bloggers who can great write great short posts about anything and everything to do with the World Cup. There are four spaces up for grabs and you can find all the details here.

The basics though is that you need to write up to 300 impassioned, maybe witty words about something to do with football or the World Cup.

Germany 2006 will be on Mobizines, which is a fantastic new mobile phone application that offers magazines to go on your handset.

You can read all about how Mobizines work here and what sister blog Tech Digest said about it when it launched here.

So £500 and you could be on your way to be the next Motty. What have you got to lose?

Football TV reviews

Sly___cocky_1Over on TV Scoop, another fine website from Shiny Media, you'll find two sublime reviews of last night's footy action!

You've got a look at the mighty Escape to Victory as well as a look at the England V Germany charity match that took place, involving Boris Johnson's amazing tackle!

Did I say they were sublime? The fact I wrote them has nothing to do with that of course...
