Argones resignation turned down

The Spanish Soccer Federation has rejected coach Luis Aragones' offer to resign from his post as the Spain football coach. The 68-year-old, who had been under immense scruntiny after last week's 3-2 defeat by Northern Ireland in the Euro 2008 qualifiers, is still considering his future.

"Luis came to the meeting with the idea that he was going to resign but the president has rejected it," said Federation spokesman Jorge Carretero. "He has asked for two more days to make a final decision." Carretero added: "Luis has our total confidence and our support but he has the last word."
