Jonathan Woodgate's Madrid time machine - where 90 minutes feels like a year

No wonder Jonathan Woodgate is always injured. According to the Beeb (at the time of writing - I can't imagine it will be too long before an eagle-eyed sub-editor goes mad with someone!), Woodgate has managed to squeeze 14 years into his two years at Real Madrid. The BBC Sport website reads: "The England defender signed for Real in a £13.4m deal in August 2004, but has played just 14 years in two years."

We are not sure whether Woodgate has invented some kind of time machine or is line to be the next Doctor Who, but it is a pretty impressive feat. Alongside all this time travel, the fact that Woodgate is about to join either Middlesbrough or Newcastle on loan seems quite insignificant. [BBC Sport]
