Italian match-fixing trial should 'take victory into account'

The match-fixing trial of Italian clubs Juventus, AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina should now take Italy's World Cup victory into consideration according to the country's ironically titled Justice Minister.

Clemente Mastella (pictured) has called for a verdict that "takes into account the victory in Berlin." He added: "Let's do what they did in ancient Rome: whoever has given us prestige and dignity should be treated differently, as one who has done something exemplary."

The Italian FA said a verdict might not be reached until Friday or Saturday. [Via BBC]
