Aussie ref to get angry for next World Cup
Australian World Cup referee Mark Shield is promising to get angry in a bid to be assigned to higher profile games at the next World Cup. The 32-year-old said looking stern is the way to find favour with FIFA, citing World Cup final referee Horacio Elizondo as an example.
He said: ""A lot of the time it's a facade. A lot of the referees that are in the World Cup are nice fellas, they are good blokes. But they've got an angry look, which I have also got as well, which you need as part of your refereeing." Don't worry, you look scary enough already on your official FIFA photo, Mark!
