Preview: Italy v Australia
Of all the last 16 match-ups, this is one of the toughest to call, especially as these teams have never played each other. Italy topped a very tough group but somehow they've yet to convince anyone, including me, that they are potential winners. These Socceroos punch above their weight and in Guus Hiddink they have one of the smartest World Cup coaches of all time. Should be a tight game, but I'd have to pick Italy to win.
Team news Mark Schwarzer returns in place of clanger-dropper Zeljko Kalac, who almost cost Australia its place in the last 16. Jason Culina replaces the suspended Bret Emerton, whilst Harry Kewell (groin) doesn't start. For Italy, Alessandro Nesta's thigh injury is still niggling him. His deputy is Marco Materazzi, who scored against the Czech Republic in the last round. Francesco Totti is replaced by Alessandro Del Piero.
Key question Can Italy's centre-backs contain the menacing Viduka?
