Nerds create program to predict World Cup matches, with 83% accuracy

A pair of Computer Science students at Sharjah's American University have created a World Cup match predictor, FIFI (it stands for FIFA Intelligence). The nerds spent weeks collating stats on all 32 teams, including head-to-head match-ups, and then fed the data into FIFI's stat-hungry mouth.

So, yes, the big question: who is going to win the World Cup on 9 July? Drum roll please… … … and the winner is… Brazil! Yep, the samba masters will, according to FIFI, beat Italy in the final. No great surprise really.

England
gets beaten by Brazil in the semis (on penalties FIFI?), with Italy taking down Holland in the other semi. Hosts Germany fall to Holland at the quarter-final stage.

It's a shame FIFI couldn't predict at what point John Motson became so annoying that his head fell off.
